Brandy’s Human album

Category: Artists — cinnamon fridays @ 1:13 pm

R&B singer Brandy returned last fall with her fifth album titled “Human”, where her single “Right Here (Departed)” is included. This is her first record after signing with Epic Records and she said that it’s her most personal one to date.

Since her last album “Afrodisiac” last 2004, the Grammy-winning singer has been recording for this latest one on and off since 2005 but it wasn’t until late of 2008 where she really pursued finishing the project together with her estranged mentor Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins after they finally settled their disagreement from way back in 2003.

Her new album has gotten a lot of good reviews including one from Entertainment Weekly’s Henry Goldblatt where he took notice of the change in Brandy’s singing.

He said that the usual husky tone that everyone loved is now replaced with softer and higher tones; nevertheless, the effect is still enjoyable. Most of her critics liked what they heard from her and said that this album shows off a lot of Brandy’s different sides. They also noted that she seemed really comfortable with her new album and therefore causing her to open up more and become more serious which is quite beneficial for her.

The collection of songs in “Human” mirrors how the singer has evolved both as an individual and as a musician. Her album’s title is very appropriate for her since it shows what it means to be human and having both the strong and weak points in one persona such as being strong yet vulnerable.

Brandy has sold more than 10 million copies of her albums, in the US alone, starting from her first one and this record is sure to be a hit once again thus making her one of the hottest and best performers up to date.
