Jennifer Hudson’s losses and prizes

Category: Artists — cinnamon fridays @ 6:27 pm

We were all stunned when the news broke out that Jennifer Hudson’s mom, brother and nephew were murdered by her former brother-in-law who said he got jealous because Jennifer Hudson’s sister, his ex-wife, had a new boyfriend. With all the fame that Jennifer Hudson claimed after American Idol, this tragedy has definitely overshadowed everything for her. Now, after just about a couple of months after the tragedy, Jennifer Hudson got 4 Grammy nominations and she considers this as a great blessing for her.

Jennifer Hudson’s self-titled album is nominated for the Album of the Year award, the song “Spotlight” is nominated for the Best R&B song award as well as Best female R&B vocal performance. Also, her song which is a duet with Fantasia entitled “I’m His Only Woman” also got a nomination for Best R&B Performance by a duo or a group.

There was a rumour circulating that Jennifer Hudson will be singing the US National Anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” for President-elect Obama’s inauguration but this rumour is false. Jennifer Hudson will not be singing at Obama’s Inauguration and her rep already made an official statement that there is no truth in this rumour at all.

Jennifer Hudson, an Oscar winner, with a great voice and a woman of colour would have been the best bet to sing the song for President Obama who is the first US President that is not white. Jennifer Hudson had a personal tragedy when her mother, nephew and brother were killed by her ex-brother in law. If this rumour was true, it would be her first appearance after this unfortunate tragedy.

But, a schedule for her first ever appearance after the unfortunate event is scheduled on February 6 where she will be singing on a Grammy charity concert that is a tribute for the music icon Neil Diamond.

It’s understandable why it took this long for Jennifer Hudson to sing a song for the public again. What happened to her is no laughing matter and she deserved the break she got and the silence she needed to mourn for her big loss. We’re glad that she finally started making commitments again and hopefully by February 6 we will see the vibrant and energetic Jennifer Hudson that we’ve grown to love. No more tears, girl! Life goes on and you’re strong enough to joggle up everything.
