Letoya Luckett is one of the original members of the popular Destiny’s Child group and in 2006 she established herself as a solo singer and released her first album. Her album became a hit and reached #1 in Billboard 200 on its first week and everything was going smoothly for her. The album was a hit and she was quite expecting the next album would come in a year or less… but, it took 3 years and she just can’t wait any longer.
What happened? Why did she end up waiting 3 years for another album? Well, it’s just bad luck for her really and it’s not her fault at all. Capitol and Virgin recordes were to emerge just after she released her debut album but while they are restructuring, the executive VP of urban music had died of a heart attack which is why even if she wanted to have a new album, there’s just nothing she could do but wait. And wait she did.
The years that she waited was not wasted though as she focused on figuring things out in her life such as for her relationships and with her personal growth as a singer, a songwriter, a woman and also as an entrepreneur. With all that she learned, she reflected that in her song Lady Love from her 2nd album which is expected to be released this June 23, 2009.
