Ruben Studdard won American Idol Season 2 and released an album in 2003 entitled Soulful. It was his first studio album and it was under the J Records. It reached 1.7 million in sales and awarded platinum. That album reached #1 in the U.S. Billboard charts. Following that album was his second album entitled “I need an Angel” which was released a year later. Its sales were not as great as the first album where it only got 450,000 of sales. It got a Gold certificate which is not as satisfying as the Platinum he received from the first album. The second album I need an angel reached the #20 in the U.S. Billboard Charts.

After 2 years, Ruben released another album and this one reached #8 in the U.S. Billboard charts although it only got 413,000 of record sales. The third album is entitled The Return since he skipped a year of recording.

The music industry became flooded with new stars from different reality shows such as American Idol and Ruben’s career dwindled but he is not away from the limelight at all, there’s just a twist in his career. Now, Ruben is a star in the revival tour of Ain’t Misbehavin’ where he plays as Fats Waller. With such positive reviews for Ruben, he became part of its cast’s album and he also announced that he will be releasing another album for Mother’s day this year although the next album still does not have a title as of the moment.
