It’s a bad day to be Boy George.
The iconic singer from Culture Club was declared guilty by the British jury for handcuffing a male escort against his will and beating him. This happened last April when Boy George requested the services of the male escort for some porn-themed shoot.
According to the male escort (named Audun Carlsen), he was handcuffed and beaten with a metal chain after negotiations with the singer and one companion went sour. Carlsen during that time, refused to have sexual intercourse with the singer. Because of the refusal, he was forced by the two men to stand on the wall and was handcuffed. He was fortunately able to get out free from the restrains and went straight to the police to complain.
In his defense, the lawyers of Boy George accused Carlsen of stealing some photos of Boy George. They also stated that Boy George and the male escort already had sexual relations in the past and they were of S&M nature. The singer himself didn’t testify in court.
But the jury didn’t buy the defense of Boy George as there was no clear sign whether or not there were some pictures stolen. Carlsen admitted prior sexual relations but during that time, he did not agree to the demands of Boy George. Carlsen also denied stealing personal photos of Boy George.
The singer is currently out on bail. He will be back on court on January 16 when he will receive his sentence. Because of the charges, the singer is likely to end up locked in jail.
