It’s been several years now since ex-Fugees front woman stepped down from the stage and abandoned recording studios. Even more saddening than the artistic loss of such an exceptional voice of the RnB, is the news that have circulated over the last years about the singer’s mental health issues. Her latest public appearances, in particular the shocking 2007 performance in Brooklyn, have raised several concerns about the unstable behaviour of the singer. Fears of psychiatric disorders have also been confirmed by former band members Pras and Wyclef Jean who declared Lauryn urgently needs psychiatric support.
First signs of Lauryn’s problems came after the memorable album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill when the singer retired from the music scene and social interaction, because of her discontent with the whole music industry. She declared she had to go on a spiritual journey to resolve her fears and sense of insecurity. More recently, pictures of the artist have been caught showing an unrecognizable woman a far cry from the beautiful Lauryn at the time of her solo success.
In 2009, fans were hoping in a European comeback tour which however was cancelled at the last moment due to health reasons, as declared by her agent. From these events, it looks like Wyclef Jean’s latest declarations pleading for Lauryn’s agreement to reunion of the Fugees will remain unheard unless more encouraging news about Hill’s conditions won’t start coming up.
