A world without Michael Jackson

Category: News — cinnamon fridays @ 10:15 am

The king of pop is dead! Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles on the morning of June 25. The cause of his death is supposed to be a natural one, however the autopsy is scheduled for Friday, June 26.
The news shocked everybody because Michael Jackson had scheduled 50 sold-out concerts at London’s O2 Arena and millions of people were ready to see his shows.

He was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana and was the seventh of nine children. At the age of 8 he became the lead vocals for Jackson 5. In 1982 Thriller was issued and it remained in the top ten of Billboard 200 for 80 weeks. Thriller was the best-selling album of all times.

In 1983 he performed live on the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever TV show together with The Jackson 5 and on his own, singing “Billie Jean” and performing his signature dance move called the moonwalk in front of the 47 million viewers.

In 1984 together with Lionel Richie, Jackson co-wrote the charity single “We Are The World“. The single was sang by 39 music stars and became the best-selling single of all time; the millions of dollars earned from the album sales were donated to charity.

Another successful album was released in 1987 – Bad followed by the Bad World Tour which lasted almost 2 years. In 1991 his eight album – Dangerous was released.

To celebrate the singer’s 50th birthday, Sony BMG released a compilation album called King of Pop and fans in London were looking forward to his July concerts at O2. Unfortunately he won’t be in the limelight  and who knows how long we will have to stand in front of the empty stage, waiting for a new King of Pop of lesser greatness.

Thank you for the music, Your Highness and rest in peace.

    1. I could not believe my eyes this morning when I saw on the first page the news about his death. I was thinking it is some kind of joke.
Too bad this happened, he still had a lot to say and to do in music and besides he has very young children to look after (I am sure they will be properly looked after but still…).
I see you have posted an article about his O2 concerts recently. It is too bad that death doesn’t knock at our door, she just show up.
