Like several other celebrities, Ashanti has experienced the bad side of being a famous by becoming victim of harassment. It seems the singer was subject to inopportune attentions by a 31 year old man, Devar Hurd, who has recently been found guilty for stalking the singer.
The harassment took place between last May and July, when Hurd sent to Ashanti’s sister, Shia Douglas, and mother Tina, numerous sexually-explicit texts and vulgar pictures. He has also been spotted in many of Ashanti’s performance venues.
Hurd introduces himself as a singer and record music company CEO. In front of the Manhattan Supreme Court, he explained that his sex-ting and pictures of his intimate parts were welcomed by the women as he was never told to stop.
He seemed convinced that Ashanti and him had build a strong connection after having eye-contact at a concert venue in 2003 and has since then followed the singer in all her movements. After trying to get hold of Ashanti’s number, someone related to her record company seems to have leaked her mother’s phone and that’s when the stalker began to send x-rated pictures for the singer. Devar Hurd is now facing 2 years in jail for his acts and is due to appear again in court on the 11th January.
