R Kelly is planning to write his memoirs to be published in 2011. The 42 year old RnB artist declared his aim behind the project is that of clearing all the misunderstandings that have been going on about him and which have caused many of the controversies around his public image.
Thoughts are obviously going to the charges of child pornography R Kelly has been accused of in the past. The idea of writing his autobiography, indeed, has been set a year after the artist was definitely cleared of charges.
The child pornography scandal broke out in 2002 over a tape showing R Kelly having sex with an under aged girl. The episode, as per the artist’s words, almost ruined his life and surely affected what was until then a remarkable career flagged by three Grammy Awards, a series of Number 1 Albums and memorable singles such as I Believe I Can Fly, Ignition and Bump N’ Grind.
Other than his very personal story on how he had to put on with a six year trial, R Kelly promised his autobiography to focus on fundamental aspects and moments of his life such as the loss of his beloved mother, the story of his involvement in the RnB music scene and insights in the creative process behind his music. Co-writing Robert Kelly’s (signing with his real name for once) book will be David Ritz. The book is to be published by Smiley Books editors.
