Michael Jackson had organized an auction scheduled for April 21 to 25, 2009 with over 2000 items including his Neverland gate as well as a white glove from his 1983 video of “Billie Jean”. This is the first time that Michael Jackson ever held an auction. Is it because Michael Jackson is broke? Well, whether or not the rumour is true, after this auction Michael Jackson will definitely have millions of dollars again.
Michael Jackson’s Neverland was almost foreclosed last May but he was able to sell his 2,700 acre ranch with a zoo, an amusement park and a wonderful lake to a company where he had a property loan worth $24 million! Gone are the glory days of the Neverland ranch where he was said to be molesting little boys during their “wholesome” sleepovers.
So how much would this auction end up in sales? Well, the catalog alone is already worth $100 each while the limited edition catalogs are worth 5 times more at $500! A similar glove that was worn by Michael Jackson was once auctioned for $35,000 during the 2006 auction while his socks are worth $15,000 back in 2005! Michael Jackson is an icon so all the items are definitely worth a lot and many Michael Jackson fanatics would pay lots of dollars just to grab one of his old items. But, the question is, will the financial status of the U.S. improve for next year or will there still be a recession by April? If so, then sales may turn out a little less overwhelming.
